History
Much of Maximus' early history mirrors that of his Earth-616 counterpart.
Born the brother of king Blackagar Boltagon, Maximus had his stronger brother, jealous of his powers and position. Maximus was caught in the path of Black Bolt's sonic scream, and while some believe that this drove Maximus mad, others speculate that madness already ran in the Blackagon family. Maximus coveted his brother's throne, and swore that the Inhuman nation would be his, one way or another. [1]
Maximus unleashed countless schemes against his family, all of them failing. Eventually, Maximus created a bomb that would unleash the Terrigen Mists into Earth's atmosphere. He wished to create a new Inhuman nation out of the rest of Earth, which he would rule. [1]
The Inhuman Royal Family would try and stop Maximus' mad scheme, and during the fight Maximus killed Lockjaw. In retaliation, Medusa snapped Maximus' neck, killing him. Maximus' bomb was not destroyed however. Having grown tired of living under the thumbs of the royal family and Inhuman council, the Inhumans began to leave Attilan. Black Bolt, realizing that his people would be persecuted by humanity due to their prejudice towards all that is different, activated the bomb before the Inhuman Royal Family left Earth to find a new destiny among the stars.[1]
Like all those who died, Maximus' soul would end up in the Realm of the Dead, a realm created by the Elders of the Universe to collect the fragments of the Multiverse. There, Maximus would endlessly battle against other super beings. In death, Maximus was finally cured of his madness. When his brother eventually died, Maximus directed him to Mar-Vell's army, which was fighting to defeat Death itself and to create a Paradise for the dead. [2]
Upon Mar-Vell's success Maximus was among the first to receive a portion of the Cosmic Cube and create his own reality. In his ideal paradise, Maximus was the ruler of the Inhuman nation.
