Quote1 I was built to replace Nick Fury, so that's what I'm gonna do. And I'll do a better job than you, that's for damn sure! They left me to rot, so I'll do the same to them! From their ashes, build a new reborn S.H.I.E.L.D.! Quote2
The Leader[src]

History

This rogue Nick Fury Sr. Life-Model Decoy used his resemblance to the legendary S.H.I.E.L.D. leader to convince rookie agents to join his cause to take over the agency and set it on the "righteous path."[2] He became known as The Leader.[1]

After raiding several defunct S.H.I.E.L.D. bases for intel, he came across information regarding a prediction from the Inhuman profiller Ulysses Cain.[3] Said prediction stated that Nick Fury Jr. was going to die in his next mission, but that was going to ensure S.H.I.E.L.D.'s survival.[2] In order to fulfill the prediction, the Leader sent several traitorous agents to accompany Fury in his mission and kill him. The plan failed, and it prompted Fury to fake his death and slip under the radar to investigate the attempt on his life.[1]

Fury tracked down the Leader to an abandoned base in Alaska code-named Ulu. The LMD's superior speed and strength caught Fury off-guard, allowing him to make his escape without even having his identity or appearance discovered.[4] Fury managed to pick up the trail and find the Leader in the subterranean Kratos base.[2]

The LMD revealed the truth involving his plan and the prediction of Fury's death, and tried to kill him. As they battled, Fury destroyed the base's main support beam, causing it to collapse.[2]

The Leader died with the destruction of the base, and his skull was retrieved by Fury, who later hacked into it to access its information and fully grasp his plan. Fury subsequently blew up the Leader's head.[3]
