Yea you always see the kids hanging our and reading Carnages newest blood orgy
Strong is dumb.
Antithetical to is evil.
Criminals never have a point.
Cops are good guys, for the most part.
Some kids don't deeply understand comics.
This one is part stereotype/ part ignorance between MCU exclusive fans.
Side note: nothing wrong with MCU fandom and most fans are fine.
The EXTREME MCU fans think that knowing the movies really well make them experts on the comics because they think it’s identical to the source material. If they meet someone else who knows it as well as them, they think each other are experts, which is the stereotype.
THEN, the extreme MCU fans will argue with comic readers about the validity of the reader’s knowledge on the comics that they never read. Like, they will AGGRESSIVELY try to tell readers how the comics are, based solely on their love of the MCU.
The stereotype is between MCU extremists thinking that they and the others are comic experts.
Not sure how they can think that 😂
For me it’s “comics are for children” which I have to do is good to know the kids can read series like bomb queen, preacher, Marvel’s MAX series, marvel zombies, death of a family (joker beating the shit out of Jason was a lot ) , spread, Crossed
It bothers me that the movies have muddled the characters up, and made events and origins less interesting. The example that comes to mind is the Civil War movie. The comic event had a lot of depth and nuance, where the movie felt boring and superficial to me. A few people I knew had a lot to say about the movie, and when asked about it, I just couldn't connect. To me, the point of it wasn't that interesting, and the things that made the comic event matter were taken out of the movie, so the only similarities were the fact that superheroes fought, and it focused on a disagreement between Iron Man and Capt America. So yeah, some of the movies I feel give an ersatz explanation of what Marvel can be.
Is ersatz an actual english word?
Yes, but it's one of those words you find by looking up "[word] synonym" to make your vocabulary sound bigger than it is
I agree that the movie could have had more along the original CW storyline, but to a person whi hasn't read CW it was a great movie. It still had the conflict between Iron Man and Cap, along with the outlying threat of superhero "registration" (I quote it because in the movie it is registering the Avengers).
But first of all, the comic had a lot more heroes and villains. Marvel Studios would have had to have packed the movie with tons of characters, which messes up a movie's overall performance. And while some of us may have wanted to see the great comic line played out on the silver screen, other people don't want to pay for a movie and have the hassle of the movies just to see the exact comic story but on the screen. People I knew said the plot shake up was good.
Ersatz is a great word and should be used all the time! I didn't look it up, but found it in one of the Series of Unfortunate Events books called the ERSATZ Elevator. Wasn't trying to come off better than, if that was the impression. Was just trying to say the movies muddle a lot of context and nuance of otherwise very good Marvel events that appear in comics.
What do you think?
