Xavier is monumental but writers made him such a hypocrite. Remember that time he was part of the illuminati, and had the power to make massive systemic changes, and did absolutely nothing for mutant rights because he didn't want to seem biased?

Also, remember the time he was actively in love with jean grey? A teenage student?

I feel like a lot of stuff from the silver age is dubiously canon at best nowadays so I kinda figured the Professor X/Jean thing had been dropped but NOPE
