The graveyard. Everyone is here. Friends, family, co-workers. And him. Peter Parker was standing in the croud. The preist cleared his throat and said:
"We gather here to say goodbye to Cindy Moon. Some people knew her as Silk. Her earthly life is over but we must hope she will receive her reward in Heaven."
The procession started. They all walked to her grave. The coffin was put in the ground and the speeches started. Albert Moon Jr. was talking about his older sister and her troubling life. Suddenly, somebody gently grabbed Peter. He walked with him away. They sat near the tree. Peter recognised his moustache immediately.
"Jonah... what...?" he said but Jameson interrupted him.
"Shut up, Parker." JJ whispered "I need to know, you hear me? I need to know how she died."
Peter sighed. He looked at the sky and said: "Fine. I'll tell you what I've heard from Hector. How Cindy and I experienced it all."
I was in New York City, swinging with Spider-Man. I jumped mid-air and landed softly on the top of the building. I panted when Spidey joined me afterwards.
"It seems I've won, Pete." I said while laughing.
"I can't believe it. Maybe I'm getting old?" he joked.
"We're, like, the same age, genius." I said. We both sat down on the edge. He asked me about what had been happening lately. I told him about New Agents of Atlas and City of Pan. We talked about his life then. He told me that he's getting things on track with MJ. He mentioned that Miles had a little problems with the Kamala's Law but he hoped he would deal with that somehow.
I said goodbye to him. I swang through the city when I felt it. Silk-Sense picked some bad vibes again. I was hit with something. I landed on my bottom. I was quickly picked up by two men. They were really strong. I couldn't get out of their grasp. Their white outfits looked strangely familiar. The person in front of me wore the same one.
"Fang." I said angrily.
"Hello, Cindy. Missed me?"
"What are you doing here?"
"Isn't it obvious? Don't you remember what I told you last time we met? I wanted to cure you and put you in your precious bunker. But you sent me to jail. I planned my revenge when I was there. I promised to get what's mine. And finally I got out."
"If you think you can steal my powers, you're wrong. I'll never let you!" I said, trying to kick her. With no effect.
"Oh, but I am doing it right now." she said. She put a syringe in my shoulder. When she was doing that I felt Silk-Sense going all out.
Then, it stopped. And I fainted. The next thing I remember, I woke up in a bunker. The same bunker I was locked up for ten years. I was only in my underwear. I panicked. I didn't know what to do. I cried. Suddenly, I saw Spectro in there too. I was relieved.
"Hector!" I said. I hugged him. "How did you...?"
"I followed Fang's goons here. I didn't want you to be alone. But I have to get out before they notice me."
"Hector, listen. I need you to get me out of here."
"I tried. The bunker's protection somehow blocks my powers. Sorry."
"There should be a way. Get Spider-Man. New Agents of Atlas. Anyone that could help. I have to stop Fang before she uses my powers for evil."
"I'll be right back." he said and vanished.
After I met with Cindy on the rooftop I swang to the lab robbery. There were people dressed in white costumes getting tech out of my old company. I stopped by and said:
"Hey, guys. Peter Parker wouldn't like if any of it was missing." I webbed them up. Suddenly, I was covered in web as well. Ironic, I know. I felt familiar pheromones.
"Silk?" I asked. The woman that was in front of me wore the same white outfit.
"Oh, don't worry about her. Cindy Moon is in a safe place. And sadly, she isn't Silk anymore. I, Fang, have her powers now." she laughed. She kissed me. My Spider-Sense was screaming. I felt the same thing when I was near Cindy, unwillingly this time. She quickly stopped. "Sorry, I... couldn't resist. I don't know why." she swang away.
I freed from the web after 30 minutes. After that I saw a ghost.
"Spider-Man? My name is Spectro. Silk needs help."
"I can tell. Where is she?"
He led the way to the bunker. I swang there as quickly as possible. I defeated Fang's henchmen and reached the bunker. I couldn't get into there even though I tried to hack into the mainframe.
"Damn it! They changed the password." I got angry. I ripped the bunker's door a little. My all muscles were aching. Spectro got Cindy out and I panted.
"Peter? You're here? How...?" I asked. I got up quickly. "It doesn't matter. We have to stop Fang."
"We will. But we need prep." Pete said. He grabbed me and swang to his house. "MJ, I brought a friend. Could you take care of Cindy?" he asked and left. I had a little chat with MJ. She was surprised about my outfit but I explained everything. She held my hand. And somehow, she understood me. Peter returned. He brought his web-shooters. "I know this isn't the same as your organic web but..."
"It'll have to do." I said. I shot web on the wall. Next, I weaved my web suit.
"So, what's the plan?" asked Spectro. I told them. Spidey had to locate her with his Spider-Sense. I wanted them to fight against her henchmen. And to leave Fang to me.
"Are you sure about this?" asked Peter. As always, he worried about me. I held his hands.
"I am. Let me have this. Fang stole my powers. And only I have to take them back and stop her. If it was Green Goblin, you'd do the same."
"Okay." he sighed. "Let's get Fang."
I swang with Cindy to Fang's location. I put her on the ground. I ran to the Spider Society's goons. I attacked them. I was dodging their bullets. Spectro phased through the sidewalk, picked up two of them and dropped them. Meanwhile, Cindy reached Fang.
I shot my greatest enemy with web. She caught it. She pulled me to her and hit me in the face. I fell. She picked me up."What do you think you're doing, huh?!" she yelled. She threw me on the ground. "I stole your powers! Why are you so stubborn?!"
"Because you're wrong. You don't deserve that power. It was my gift. Even now, I still am Silk. And you can't do anything about it. No bunker can't hold me." I said weakly.
"You're right." she said. "Putting you in a bunker was a mistake." She tied my neck with web and choked me. I felt her claws piercing my chest. Blood started to spill from my heart and mouth. I fell. As I was lying down she whispered "A mistake I've just corrected." and left while laughing.
"Cindy!!!" I screamed. I quickly sat on my knees and hugged her. Spectro joined me. I tried to use my web to cure her wounds. With no results. As I started to cry, she touched my cheek and held Spectro's hand.
"It's okay, Pete. We all die. The web of destiny decides where and when. My time has come, you can't change it." she coughed with blood. "Tell my family I love them."
"No, Cin! You can't die."
"Shhh. It's all right. I had to. Remember what you taught me? With Great Power..." she coughed again.
"With Great Power." I whispered.
While Peter was hugging me, I've seen my entire life. I remembered all of it. Spider-bite. The bunker. Inheritors. City of Pan. Everything. I slowly saw the light. And her. She was waiting for me.
"Hi, Mattie." I said. "Long time no see."
During the funeral, there were so many speeches. Lola and Rafferty. Hector Cerventez. JJJ cried. Cindy was really close to him. Even Brawn and Mockingbird said a word or two. There was Peter Parker's turn.
"Cindy Moon was one of my best friends. Too bad she's not with us. But her life helped many people. And she was one of the best Spider-People I've seen in action. Thank you."
Right after the ceremony there was a funeral banquet during which Luna Snow was about to give a concert.
"We're all so sad that Cindy left us." she said to the microphone. "But I think Cindy wouldn't like that. She was always so cheerful. And I dedicate this song to her." she started singing. It was 'I really wanna'. Peter knew the lyrics because Cindy taught him that. He left after the words: "I feel the power when I sing to you."
He sat on the Cindy's grave. Hector went out and joined him.
"So, what now?" he asked.
"We protect Moon Family. Cindy would want that. And we have to bring Fang to justice. And possibly depower her. We owe Silk. With great power comes great responsibility. And it's our responsibility that her sacrifice won't be for nothing."
The End.
