Professor X was pretty much doing the exact same thing as Magneto. When it came down to it, they were both unethical preparing for a war.

Professor X and Magneto actually both cede to this point in X-men Legacy after messiah complect. When omega sentinel asked them both which side was right, they looked at each other and agreed they were both wrong.

Later both cede that Scott Summers had a better vision of mutant kind than either of them, being the middle of them both

Movie and 1960s-80s Xavier. The comic one as Slyme said in the later years wasn't so great

Nobody should agree with xavier either, who used child soldiers to fight his war and manipulated them by changing their mind or perception of events, sometimes even completely wiping there memories or coercively using their vulnerability against them.

I don't agree with that but some versions of Xavier are good at least.

Some versions of magneto are good too. Really no more or less than xavier ultimately

I don't think you can blame someone for wanting revenge after everything the mutants have been through. But both Magneto and Xavier go too far, and even though I have a slight leaning to magneto, I think the current way of things with Krakoa is a good direction.

I think ter most benevolent and just versions of Xavier is from Xmen Evolution, The Original Xmen films and the Xmen Legends games I hope Xavier and Magneto will be able to cooperate with each and coexist with the humans of Earth.
