Honestly the retcon is one of the most inconsistent of any marvel retcon ever.

The funny thing to me is that after house of M, Magneto and High Evolutionary travelled through space together, working together to undo Wanda's spell. High Evolutionary was amazed and bewildered by Wanda, citing his overall unfamiliarity with her and her powers. They managed to find a solution but it came with great cost and wasn't efficient to reproduce.

High Evolution is very much a science first. I doubt he'd purposely fail scientifically, or lie in a way that threatened his scientific findings.

Going from that to High Evolutionary being the creator of Wanda it ludicrous to me

It’s probably also the biggest retcon with the shortest turn around to regret - with the timing of it, it would have been intended to cement Marvel’s film rights for Wanda, but by the time it went into print the Fox buyout was happening/not far off from happening.

So now they’re in a position where they would benefit more from them being mutants, but it’s awkward to retcon such a big retcon that quickly.

Yeah they legit changed their parantage like 4-5 times in 5 years and went right back to regret
