Hyperion, much like the rest of the Squadron Supreme, were made to be copies of existing DC characters. Nighthawk is Batman, Power Princess is Wonder Woman, and so on.

Many characters have similarities, it's not surprising. All of them are completely different characters. I can go, oh hey, look at Ironman and Batman, both are rich, both are geniuses, neither have powers, both help fund the main team, etc.

Also, hyperion was raised on an motto that was a twist on superman's.

"Truth without compromise, thought without error, all things for the better of the whole."

Supermans was: "truth, justice, and a better tomorrow"

And no you arent the only one to notice. The makers of hyperion made him as an intentional play on superman. Its not a secret. It was just what they were doing.
