This is where your frankly general assumption is wrong. I don't care about Tom's Spidey because of those things, I've been a fan since his debut (not a big fan of MCU stark)
<gasp> MCU Stark is amazing! Maybe his writing wasn’t always the best but “ohmygoditsrobertdowneyjr”. Also, the reason that I dislike Tom spidey is for multiple reasons. First, he’s just mid. Doesn’t stand out in my mind. But second, everyone I know (females and males) only watch the MCU bc “Tom is so hooooooot” and it really annoys me bc he isn’t that hot, and it cements my hatred of him. Little bit petty, but that’s just my thoughts.
Yeah. And he just comes off as cliche and annoying. He tries way to hard to be likable like Tobey.
^^^ Nothing of that has anything to do with Tobey Maguire and everything to do with Sam Raimi.
^^by all means, prithee, tell us why he "tries too hard to be liked". I have seen you say this many times but never back it up with any solid things.
I would've agreed with most of that if you hadn't said that Tom Holland's Spidey was perfect embodiment of Friendly Neighborhood Spidey.
Why I heavily disagree with this is because... HE IS IRON BOY!
I agree that scenes like this:
Showed that he was truly a Neighborhood Spidey...
But it plummets and is ruined by stuff like TONY being the one to tell him what to be, and having to save him multiple times, then all his villians have a vendetta with Tony, THEN... he barley does anything of note where the whole city knows that Spider-Man saved the day. Instead he actually causes a lot of the trouble:
1) Got in the way of an FBI investigation that would've stopped Vulture.
2) Gave BARF to Mysterio, he gave away what TONY GAVE TO HIM and trusted him solely with.
3) Caused NWH lol..
His Spider-Man makes so many mistakes and doesn't become his own independent hero until AFTER the deaths of not just Tony, but Aunt May, Uncle Ben (presumably if there ever was one), and wiping everyone's memories...
Damn... It took all that from him to finally become truly Spider-Man:
^This is the first time he really felt like Spider-Man, and not an Iron Boy trying to become Spider-Man.
@BashengaTheFirst I'm referring to Tom Holland's performance, not how the MCU handled this rendition of the character. He has the personality, he sort of has the looks, and has the accent (if I'm not mistaken).
Well he's British but he puts on a great American accent
Even when he was swinging you can still hear his despair 😞
I like the third movie the best
What do you think?
