Actually, I think it was the only part of the movie was worth watching. Trevor was a curve ball... Seeing him in Shang-Chi was a hoot.

Any seriousness the movie had was immediately kamikazed with the twist. The twist is my hugest issue with the film, but not my only gripe.

The actual villian was just another Hammer from IM2 with an even worse motivation. "Tony was mean to me, because I was ugly"... "Now I'm the Mandarin, hear me ROAR".

I'm being simplistic, but that's what it was at its base.

That scene alone was the start of the MCU putting far too many jokes in their films, and any serious scene being torched by a cop out for cheesy comedy.

I like The Mandarin, but I thought Ben Kingsley's Mandarin was better. Until the twist, which was funny, but they should have kept Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin. Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian should have stayed as someone working for The Mandarin, instead of being revealed as The Mandarin.

Didn't like it especially when you learn that neither of them was supposed to be the villain.

I was dissapointed when I saw mandarin as "just" a terrorist, he was Iron man's greatest enemy, but then they did a twist, it wasn't the real mandarin, and the mandarin is way better than the fake artist

It was a cheap cop out.

I didn't think The Mandarin was just a terrorist, that is I thought he was gonna be revealed as so much more. That he'd be more like he is in the comics or close to it, but sadly the twist's reveal killed what I hoped was really going on. That he was just an actor playing at being terrorist for the media, while Aldrich was the "real" Mandarin manipulating. But still, Ben Kingsley was fantastic and the best part of the movie. Even the reveal was awesomely funny.

Agree it was, Marvel really trolled us good on that one. I remember being so confused on why the Mandarin was surrounded by girls like that.
