Great points! 😎 Let me clarify a little and see if it impacts your decision:
Surfer can’t handle Thanos 1v1 for sure, but I’d argue he can keep him busy for a while. The goal with Strange relies entirely on him and Adam fighting a purely psychic battle initially, so as soon as the match starts, he and Adam are fighting in a different space. I’m gonna say, in a psychic fight (good call on that bind though, I didn’t consider that at all 🤔) Strange can either take him or at least have Adam fighting himself on some level (banking on this, because time isn’t on my team’s side).
Once Adam is occupied, Strange and Surfer would double up on Thanos, Strange going psychic and Surfer going physical. Which is still gonna take a hot minute, but at least we might have Adam on pause.
With any luck, they would then double back on Adam with the same strategy.
Okay... Smart. One problem, equipment. Thanos has a chair that can fight on his behalf and defend him well enough to drop heavy hitters. Of course, Warlock has his karmic staff as well. Warlock also has a significant strength and speed advantage on Strange... He doesn't have to use incantations.
THE CHAIR
The staff was something I accounted for, but that chair slipped my mind. I never think of it as part of his standard loadout, but it totally is.
That thing is an absolute unit in and of itself, I can’t get around the chair 😌
In my defeat, I want that on my metaphorical tombstone:
“He forgot the chair” 🤣
Good team, my friend! 😎
@Dr. Nice I think a full power Gambit (before he has his brain tissue removed) and Rogue (who could copy his powers) will be what I lock in for what can beat Warlock and Thanos.
^You have in effect 2 individuals with no mystical, or advanced tactical knowledge against the most versatile cosmic entities in the Marvel Universe... Capable of high level energy and time manipulation... Vast mystical knowledge and capable of existing in absolute zero temperature vacuum for extended period... Neither requires food or air, and they have high level telepathic abilities and matter transformation and you want me to believe Gambit and Rogue can cope?
Nope, I just don't buy it.
Well after considering the New Sun storyline for Gambit (where a full power Gambit burns down the world, survives and achieves multiversal travel), and Rogue being able to use Gambit’s powers, that’s basically two planet killing, multiverse traveling people right there. Maybe not the best choices to take on Warlock and Thanos, and it would probably be a mission where Rogue and Gambit are basically kamikaze, but I do still think they stand a decent chance.
But that was an alternate reality gambit. he achieved world destroying powers and multiverse travel under very specific circumstances.
^ Also, New Sun's version of Gambit probably didn't team-up with Rogue much, if at all, did he?
As far as I know, no.
But in theory, that version of Gambit had only lost control of his powers, and in theory has the same capabilities as 616 Gambit (as 616 Gambit has regained his full powers on some occasions), so in theory it is a possibility.
Though there probably are better choices (like Silver Surfer and Doctor Doom, who I somehow didn’t think of first), though I still believe Gambit and Rogue could stand something of a chance.
What do you think?
