I don't remember Sinister being in it, but I'm rereading some now to refresh what I may have forgotten. They were less evolved with the X-Gene, the Grey guy found a way to create monsters with it. A type of cloning and some were strong and some were dropped in one shot. But they were not warriors and the fact 300 of them got killed of by angry villagers pretty much lates you know they weren't powerful. They made it seem like a big thing, but the 2003 reveal of a 15000 year old island of now dead mutants, and the over all history that has been learned before 2012 and after makes it not a big deal really. Discovering a subspecies or "Neanderthals" like mutants is cool. But again we've found older stuff and know how it all started too.

Don't get me wrong, I do like the story, and the ending between him and Pixie was beautiful. I wish they revealed his true name and when they brought him back did it differently. Cause when they did it was just here he is and this is how powerful he is. No where have you been or any mention of Proto-Mutant stuff that went on before. I was hoping for a reunion with Pixie, but all I got was a small panel of her standing beside him and that was it😠

I disagree about them being weak. I dont think they would have tried to clone them for weapons if they were weak.

I dont think the fact that humans wiped them out is evidence either. Even current mutants die from humans regularly. Human hatred can be a terrible thing to face. I dont think thats evidence to their power level.

I can't really think of any mutants with reality manipulation, other than Proteus and occasionally Legion.

Iceman in his current state makes no sense to me.

You are essentially correct in that current writers don't really care to understand genetics and current readers don't call them out on it.

I always forget how Mikhail Rasputin functions but it borders reality manipulation too. Especially since we recently saw him effect time, space, and physical material.

I finished reading it last night and Gray digging them up was an accident. He was looking for the plague to use as a weapon but found their. He cloned and altered them to use as weapons.

Nothing mentioned of them being powerful.

And I'm sorry but the fact a village of humans with pitchforks and fire killed off 300 mutants in one go speaks volumes.
