What did you think about the final episode of Secret Invasion Season 1?
Points for both sides:
I have seen a lot of people theorizing that Rhodey was replaced after Civil War and it does make sense to me with the unable to walk clue and such. I personally lean towards this theory as well but it isn’t confirmed.
On the other hand, if he still just has a bit of difficulty walking, I’m sure being in that stasis pod for a prolonged period made him weaker and disoriented when he got out. If he’d been in there longer than most of the other captives, between that and his already more feeble state, he might’ve just been unable to really walk at the moment very well.
I genuinely was disappointed in the show. The espionage element was sorely lacking. While I enjoyed Samuel L. Jackson’s getting the opportunity to do more with the character, I didn’t like his character arc and also was not a fan of the reveal that he was married. The resolution with their marriage made it slightly better but I still don’t like it. And again, the lack of supoerheroes being involved in what in the comics was such an expansive story disappoints me greatly. Fury’s excuse “it’s personal” still doesn’t explain Captain Marvel not being involved, because she was part of Fury’s promise and search for the Skrulls new home.
@Ensylum who do you see taking scale to be in a streaming series who is a draw and hero, but would have no problem playing second to Samuel L.?
After 7 years, somehow I think Rhodes would have full functionality returned to his legs after A:E. I find it difficult to believe he was only taken after this.
@Ensylum I agree with you about the espionage.
I didn't like this show all that much. They missed a huge opportunity imo. Could have been a great espionage thriller but wasn't. The finale was the worst I've seen in a D+ Marvel show so far. The only one I dislike more than this one is Ms. Marvel.
4.5/10.
@Dr. Nice i suppose I just would have rather they didn’t use this as the Avenue to adapt Secret Invasion at all. A slower build up, at least a phase long, some reveals about previous phases, and then a film or two would have been better I guess. If they had actually succeeded in the espionage/thriller aspect they were trying so hard to market, then perhaps I would’ve been content with this being how they brought us Secret Invasion, but since they failed to really capture that, I’m left feeling like the plot line was wasted on a subpar story with subpar scale.
1- After the Inhumans I can't be disappointed. In comparison to that and Werewolf By Night, it was a masterpiece.
2- Director of SI stated Rhodes was still in a hospital gown when he came out of stasis "implying", he was abducted immediately following CA:CW... I missed what he was wearing as a clue, myself. I was stuck on the fact he couldn't walk.
I rate Secret Invasion slightly above She-Hulk and even with WandaVision for the opportunities it creates leading up to "Armor Wars" and "Thunderbolts", as well as "The Marvels".
Oh... As far as Fury being married, after a man dies for six years you can expect him to come to different conclusions about finding happiness wherever and whenever he can.
I think it was exceptionally good
Most people don't like it but I enjoyed the series
