What's the point of these comic book romances if they don't last forever? The heroes are not devoted to each other, they all find another love. It's better to be without a serious relationship.

Technically Peter is a criminal too. Vigilantes are against the law.

And it's easy for a character to be against relationships when they know theyll ever find someone to love them.

I would sympathize with almost any woman who decides to be in a relationship with Peter.
