Hey Marvel Wiki fam! It's been awhile and I probably am a new face to many of you here. In my first foray back into the new landscape of the wiki, I thought I'd ask a general question and pick everyone's brains. If you asked anybody who watches and keeps up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they'd probably all say the same thing when it comes to newer releases: the MCU has fallen off. And I definitely see where they would be coming from. Avengers: Endgame was the biggest movie theater craze in a long time and the biggest craze for the MCU for sure. After a high like that, I'm sure many feel like the standard is just set too high to be reached again. Of course, there have been several objectively dismal projects released in recent years that could justify this bias (looking at Quantumania and Secret Invasion). The introduction of Disney Plus TV shows has certainly opened the door for different generations of fans as well as more criticism. However, there are also plenty of projects that stand out in quality (Shang-Chi, Loki, GOTG Vol. 3). Regardless, box office performance has been abysmal over the past few years for the franchise. Even well received films like Fantastic Four: First Steps and Thunderbolts performed mediocre or less than mediocre at the box office.
All this to say, I would like to know if you think there is a problem with modern Marvel movies and TV shows and, if so, what that problem is and what Marvel and Disney executives and creatives alike can be doing to remedy such problems.
