Believe it or not, everyone, before commencing work on Titanic (1997) after he was finished with True Lies (1994), James Cameron was originally set to work on a Spider-Man film; his take on the Web-Slinger would've been more in the vein of The Terminator (1984) and Aliens (1986) in his efforts to ground the story in realism and depict how one would normally react to all this insanity if it was part of our reality -- I found his "scriptment" of it on the 'net not long ago, and I think it might intrigue you (so here's the link): http://www.teako170.com/cameron.html
Given all of this, Cameron admitted that his take on Spidey would've been significantly much edgier, grittier, darker, heavier in its utilization of coarse language, more mature in its themes and motifs, adult-oriented, and sexually explicit in its tone, direction, and content when compared to the other four live-action Spider-Portrayals that we've seen (i.e., Nicholas Hammond, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland), and thus R-rated; believe it or not, even Stan Lee expressed his support for James's Spider-Film before it was cancelled -- I myself would've been interested to see how Leonardo DiCaprio, who Cameron had in mind to play Peter Parker before he cast him as Jack Dawson in Titanic, would've tackled the character on screen (but lemme know what y'all think if you ever read it).
