My mistake. Darkhold has nothing to do with this. Ben’s memories collapsed because all of his implanted memories fractured after getting his mind erased too many times. But because Peter’s memories were the backbone of every decision Ben has ever made, his entire mind started to collapse. It’s hard to explain.
