Venom (The Klyntar) has really changed over the years, or at least how the world views him.
He started as a new costume made for toy sales, and now he's an anti-hero?
I'm one of those people who hates the Venom movie because it has nothing to do with Spider-Man, but because of that movie, to the uneducated fan, Venom has nothing to do with Spider-Man, which couldn't be farther from the truth.
And then there's the current Spider-Man sires, Marvel's Spider-Man, which does it's best to take any basic comic continuity and throw it out the window. I mean, if you thought Ultimate Spider-Man was inaccurate, just look at how this show handles Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales.
Shows like Marvel's Spider-Man, and Ultimate Spider-Man just take Venom and.... I can't even word it....
Can we remember what Venom was when he first appeared? He was an alien symbiote who bonded with Deadpool, before bonding with Peter Parker. Venom manipulated Parker until Peter forcefully unbonded with the symbiote, who then found a new host in the form of Eddie Brock, a photographer who hated both Spider-Man and Peter Parker. Brock wasted no time and immediately accepted Venom.
Together, Eddie and Venom would torment Spider-Man before eventually getting over Peter and becoming a vigilante.
So Venom was an alien, who bonded with Spider-Man, and was forsaken, who then bonded with Eddie Brock, and was a villain.
How does the world see Venom now? As an alien that bonded with Eddie Brock and became a vigilante.
Nothing about Spider-Man, nothing about Deadpool, nothing about the fact that Venom only has Spider powers BECAUSE HE BONDED WITH PETER!!
