Continuity Notes

• The apparences of Meanstreak and Punisher, as well as the Lawless member Reverend can be considered both a retcon or a continuity error, since:
  • Meanstreak was shown as deceased in X-Men 2099 #34.
  • The Punisher was killed in 2099 A.D. Apocalypse #1, but it is also possible that that Punisher was Gold Heart impersonating Gallows.
  • Reverend was mentioned as deceased.
• Gabriel O'Hara's secret identity as the Goblin 2099 is retconned in this issue; according to Manifest Destiny, the Goblin was only an unnamed shape-shifter impersonating Gabriel.
  • Peter David, the original Spider-Man 2099 writer, wanted the Goblin to be Father Jennifer D'Angelo, but when the Marvel 2099 editor Joey Cavalieri was fired, David left the title; the fill-in writers, Ben Raab and Terry Kavanagh, as well as the new editors James Felder and Mark Powers decided to reveal that Gabriel was the Goblin since the beginning in Spider-Man 2099 #45 and #46.
