Doctor Abraham Erskine shared a similar history to his Earth 616 counter part in which he developed and administered the Super Soldier Serum to Steven Rogers. However, instead of being assassinated he was saved by Rogers. Erskine was then able to successfully create and army of Super Soliders who allowed the Allies to win World War II. Cap was frozen in ice in 1946 and in the subsequent years Roxxon obtained the Serum and adjusted the formula to make it cheaper and more addictive but it began killing people. Erskine assisted the Avengers in stopping Roxxon and developed an antidote to his Serum. After Cap was recovered from the ice, he and Erskine met again and Erskine enlisted his aid in administering the antidote to the population.[1]
