History

When Krakoa had been established as a sovereign nation for mutants, Wolverine asked Forge to build him a suit of armor made from Adamantium in case he would ever lose his powers or for other doomsday scenarios. After the armor was built, Wolverine had it stored in a special bunker, along with a Muramasa Blade, hidden in the Aleutian Islands that could only be accessed by a gate planted just for Wolverine.[1]

Wolverine wielding the Adamantium Armor and a Muramasa Blade

After the fall of Krakoa and during the Sabretooth War, Wolverine lost his powers after getting shot by Sabretooth with the Neutralizer. With the Krakoan gateways disabled by Orchis, Wolverine and the Exiles sailed to the bunker where Wolverine donned the Adamantium Armor and Muramasa Blade to use against the Sabretooth Army.[1] During their final fight, Sabretooth lured Wolverine to the Pit of Exile and used his mental connection to the Pit to drag Wolverine within its depths where its vines stripped him of the armor. When Phoebe Cuckoo severed Sabretooth's connection to Krakoa, the Pit ejected Wolverine along with the scattered Armor from itself. However, Wolverine revealed that the Armor had already restored his mutant powers before it was stripped from him, allowing Wolverine to finish his war with Sabretooth uninterrupted.[2]

Properties

Due to being made entirely of Adamantium, the Adamantium Armor is virtually indestructible. The Armor was not only designed by Forge to protect Wolverine if he was depowered but also meant to restore his powers as well.[2]

Notes

The armor's existence was first hinted at in X-Force (Vol. 6) #25.
