Synopsis for "The Hex!"

A man removes hex signs from his barn against his wife's wishes and is plagued by a series of misfortunes. She begs him to allow her to restore the symbol to ward away evil but he refuses to subscribe to such superstitious nonsense. He takes gravely ill and is lying on his deathbed when, one morning, he gets up no longer sick and opens the morning mail to find he has won the lottery. When he runs out to show her the check, thinking his string of bad luck was merely coincidence, he is shocked to find her...just finishing off the paint on the new good luck symbol decorating the barn.

Explorers look for a hidden valley of giants, but the giants don't want to be discovered so they treat the explorers with a growth potion and convince them that they are normal people. The explorers leave and the growth potion wears off so they never discover that they had found what they sought.

An out of work man finds a book in the library the allows him to use a variety of magical abilities. Even ways to conjure up a jinni. The man, Paul Jordan, gets too greedy however and focuses on obtaining more wealth without watching over what he currently has and accidently leaves the book in a taxi cab. Paul searches for the driver and the book but has no luck until one day he happens upon a scene of a man wearing a top hat and a fur coat riding away in a solid gold car.

A composer finds that he has written a piece of music that has the power to place people into a hypnotic trance and resolves to rob the audience at his next performance. He fails to reckon with the detective who dislikes music, but gets dragged to these things by his wife, and turns off his hearing aid.
