History
Ai Tran lived with her father in the Lowtown, Madripoor,[2] and the two would sometimes fish together. One day, while fishing, they caught something heavy with their nets and, when they brought it to the surface, they found a heavily injured Lockheed.[3]
Despite believing him to be dead at first, Ai Tran took him in and nursed him back to health. When Lockheed was finally feeling well, he left Ai Tran a fish he'd caught as a farewell gift and flew all the way back to the mutant-only nation of Krakoa.[4][5]
After a while, Kate Pryde traveled to Madripoor to thank Ai Tran for having taken care of Lockheed while she was gone (giving her and her father a generous amount of money as a sign of appreciation). While talking, Ai Tran told Kate of the Homines Verendi's plan to raze Lowtown in order to build more towers and get even richer. To prevent them from doing so, the Hellfire Trading Company outbid them in buying multiple properties to ensure the safety of the people. Revolted with this affront, the Verendi then unleashed the new Reavers against the Marauders, successfully causing an international incident that resulted in the Marauders being banned from Madripoor.[6]
With their protectors gone, the people of Lowtown were pillaged and had their houses destroyed by the Reavers. While trying to run away, Ai Tran and her father were ambushed by the Reavers, and he was killed, but, when they were about to shoot her as well, a team of Morlocks arrived to save her and fight the Reavers. After they forced the Reavers to fall back, the Morlocks celebrated in the new Princess Bar and offered Ai Tran the chance to become the new bar owner.[1]
