History

The Soviet government decided that they had to compete with the the US Super-Soldier program. When Captain America visited a Russian facility he encountered their version of a Super Soldier, Red Guardian. Red Guardian had been driven mad through being trapped at the facility. He attacked Captain America and was killed when Captain America stabbed him with a piece of splintered wood through the chest, stating "fighting is about winning".
