Alfheim is one of the [[Glossary:Nine Worlds|Nine Worlds]] and exists on the highest level of the [[Yggdrasill|World Tree]] along with [[Asgard (Realm)|Asgard]] and [[Vanaheim (Nine Worlds)|Vanaheim]]. Its inhabitants are the [[Light Elves]]. The few appearances of the Light Elves have shown them to be peaceful, friendly, happy beings with few if any weapons. Physically their shape ranges from physically looking like humans with pointed ears to slightly more alien shapes. [[Odin Borson (Earth-616)|Odin]] the All-Father appointed the [[Vanir]] known as [[Frey (Earth-616)|Frey]], as the ruler of Alfheim. The general climate of the realm has two different extremes. Most of the time it has been shown to have a spring, temperate climate. Alfheim is one of the Nine Worlds and exists on the highest level of the World Tree along with Asgard and Vanaheim.[1] Its inhabitants are the Light Elves. The Light Elves have shown them to be peaceful, friendly, happy beings with few if any weapons. Physically their shape ranges from physically looking like humans with pointed ears to slightly more alien shapes. It is described as a "Kingdom of Fairies" and "Candy farmers" of "Mermaid Lagoons" and Orchards the size of oceans.[2] Odin the All-Father appointed the Vanir known as Frey, as the ruler of Alfheim. The capital city of the realm is known as Ljosalfgard.[3]

Polar Region

The climate of Alfheim varies as it also has a polar region in which home to the Ice Elves share many of the same characteristics of the others being peaceful, playful, friendly beings.[4]

Their are various types of of elves of Alfheim one such is the Cat Elves. These Elves are smaller than their brethren and ride winged cats as their steed.[5]

Events

A young Loki travelled to Alfheim during his mystical training. [6]

Lady Sif confronted tells Red Norvell in Alfheim when he gained the power of Thor. He used his powers to attack the peaceful Light Elves.[7]

Loki tricked Northstar of Alpha Flight into believing he was a lost member of the Light Elves. This prompted him to journey to Alfheim to learn the truth.However the truth was revealed and he return home to rejoin his team.[5]

Alternate Realities

Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (Earth-8096)

When Baron Zemo used the Norn Stones; Hawkeye was transported to Alfheim.[8] When he awoke he found the Light Elves fighting a desperate battle against Loki's forces, composed mainly of monstrous wolves. Hawkeye teamed up with Faradei to beat back the forces.[9]
