History

Dr. Aliana Alba was the chief scientist working on Weapon X's Vat H sector, which consisted on the implementation of the Hulk's genetic material in the organization's Adamantium cyborgs.[2] Dr. Alba's research progressed, though with numerous failed attempts in the process.[3] Her two most successful attempts were the test subjects H-Alpha and H-Beta, the latter being Bobby Andrews. When the Weapon X Central Command was attacked by Hulk and his allies, Dr. Alba's disobeyed Director Stryker's orders to evacuate, being unwilling to let loose the final two text subjects before their incubation period ended. After buying time by releasing her failed test subjects to attack the Hulk's allies, Dr. Alba observed as H-Beta broke free from containment, ready to attack Weapon X's enemies.[4] While Hulk and H-Beta were fighting, Dr. Alba unleashed the final subject, H-Alpha. After killing H-Beta, H-Alpha proved resistant to Dr. Alba's attempts to remotely control him with an implant, with only Hulk managing to hold him back from turning on his creators. As Hulk and H-Alpha continued fighting, Dr. Alba and Stryker made their escape.[5]

After the Weapon X Project caught up to H-Alpha, Dr. Alba injected with a nanite strain capable of resetting his command settings,[6][7] and then commanded him to attack Stryker and his cyborgs.[6] When Weapon H was commanded by Dr. Alba to kill the entire population of Phoenix to prove his perfection,[8] the same group of mutants who raided the Weapon X central command with the Hulk, whom Weapon H had previously encountered and easily defeated,[9] and Wolverine broke him free from Dr. Alba's control. Dr. Alba was subsequently apprehended and placed in custody at the X-Club headquarters in Costa Rica.[7]

Alba regained her freedom somehow and was manipulated by Roxxon CEO Dario Agger into following the trail of the original Wolverine, Logan, who was in turn tracking down Weapon H due to Agger's machinations. Alba crossed paths with the Leader, who had been similarly lured into the trail of Weapon H through the Hulk. Sterns and Alba initially attempted to kill each other, until they realized they were being puppeteered and decided to join forces.[10] After taking over Shadow Base's remote facility FN34, the two scientists abducted the Hulk and Logan and gave both each other's powers. The two Hulkverines were then dropped off at another Shadow Base facility to meet its automated defensive system as a test of power. In a state of bloodshot rage, they started fighting each other until Weapon H intercepted the fight and lured them to Alba and the Leader's observation post. Weapon H also disarmed the Leader of his teleporter, forcing Dr. Alba to stop the Hulk and Logan by recalling the nanobot swarm she had infected them with, undoing their mutation. She turned the nanobots on Weapon H in an attempt to erase his memories, but the plan failed. With the Leader having finished repairing his teleporter, both he and Alba fled. Throughout their team-up, Alba and the Leader had grown closer together due to their reciprocal admiration of each other's intelligence, and kissed afterward.[1]

Allying herself with the Abomination, Dr. Alba worked for the insurrectionist group Project Green Spring. Alba used slivers of Blonsky's skin to make grafts that turned test subjects into gamma-mutated monsters. Green Spring's efforts also included the distribution of low-level gamma grafts to the population of Thomasville, Texas, which were marketed as a supplement called Fortify. One of Green Spring's test subjects was Sergeant Dionne Fortean. She ran away when she learned of Green Spring's experimentation with the townspeople,[11] and crossed paths with the gamma-focused task force Gamma Flight.[12] Joining the team, Dionne helped raid Thomasville, where Gamma Flight hijacked Green Spring's Cathexis Ray to reverse the effects of Fortify on the townspeople. When the Abomination and Dr. Alba confronted Gamma Flight, Dr. Alba cornered Gamma Flight's Dr. McGowan and prepared to kill her with a laser gun. Using her translocator technology, McGowan opened a portal in front of herself, which teleported Alba's shot to hit her in her own back, seemingly killing her.[13]
