During the Multiversal War, He Who Remains encountered Alioth, a being created from the tears in reality capable of consuming space and time itself. He Who Remains studied Alioth and weaponized it, using it to dispose of other timelines occupied by the hostile Variants of himself. After the war was over, Alioth was placed into the Void at the End of Time[1] where it assisted in the TVA's mission of preventing any and all temporal branches. The TVA used pruning batons to send Variant individuals into the Void and Reset Charges to do the same to their entire timelines. Alioth would go on to consume those, ensuring that nothing would ever escape the Void and that the branched timelines would not grow.[2] However, there were powers even Alioth was not impervious to. Upon first encountering it, Sylvie Laufeydottir realized that she could see Alioth's past memories just as she could with the flesh-and-blood beings. Realizing that Alioth was guarding the path to the person behind the TVA, Sylvie and Loki sought to enchant Alioth together. However, he was moving too fast towards them and would have consumed them, had Classic Loki not distracted it by a massive, full-size illusion of Asgard. Alioth tried to consume it in way and soon overpowered and disintegrated Classic Loki himself, but it gave Sylvie and the other Loki time to complete the enchantment spell. Seeing past Alioth, they were able to reach the Citadel at the End of Time.[2]
Some time later, a recently-pruned Ravonna Renslayer encountered Alioth in the Void.[3]
