The Alkama Fields are a border region between Wakanda and Niganda.[3]

History

Ancient times[]

During the reign of the Wakandan King Benhazin, Wakanda experienced an unprecedented drought, perhaps brought on by the disfavor of the Hadari Yao (weather witches who were the ancestors of future Wakandan Queen Storm). To remedy this, Benhazin saw to do what almost no Wakandan had done before, and sought the help of their neighbors the Nigandans.

Under the deal made by Benhazin, the two people shared the bounty of the Alkama Fields that lay between their countries, and the nations went through a period of unprecedented prosperity. The long standing grudge of Wakanda's Hyena Clan, however, led them to stealing the harvests of both nations. This, in turn, caused the Wakandans and Nigandans to blame each other, and the conflict broke out into a war. Naturally, Wakanda emerged the victor, and Benhazin was forced to annex the entire Alkama Fields.[4] Though the King soon set his sights on rooting the Hyena Clan out of his country, the Nigandans never forgave the Wakandans for this transgression, and to this day they believe it is the sustenance supplied by the Fields, and not the vibranium of Mena Ngai, that allowed Wakanda to become so much more powerful than all of its neighbors.[5]

Modern day[]

When a drought crippled the area, the revolutionary Tetu summoned a storm to flourish the land.[3] The Alkama Fields eventually became the hideout used by Tetu's army, the People.[6] Unfortunately for the villagers, shortly after the People's defeat, Tetus's drizzle evolved into a constant deluge that drowned crops.

While investigating this occurrence, the Black Panther encountered an army of invading Simbi that emerged from a mysterious portal, and defeated them.[7] Black Panther and Storm later visited the village of Obodo Agha after learning of yet another portal, from which Anansi emerged. After helping Black Panther drive off the Anansi and rescue the villagers they had abducted, Storm found new strength in the Alkamites that worshipped her, and managed to stop the deluge.[1]
