The very act of my peering forward through time "locks" what I see into an absolute certainty... and I do not consider it my place to "create" destinies that should be allowed to take shape of their own accord. The results are sometimes... grim. Knowing this... is this still a path you wish me to pursue?

Synopsis for 1st story

The mighty Thor (Jane Foster) travels to the rainbow bridge known as the Bifrost to consult with her friend Heimdall about the ongoing civil war among the super hero community on Earth. Heimdall decides to tell the current Thor a story of a time in the past that the other Thor (Thor Odinson) came to seek advice regarding predictions of the future.

In the past, the original Thor had been a part of the first Avengers team and there was a debate among the team whether they should interfere in a war that the European country of Rotruvia was fighting against the evil neighboring ruler, Doctor Doom. To resolve this debate, Thor brought his friends to Hiemdall on the bifrost (making them the first mortals to ever set foot on the bifrost) and asked Heimdall to see the future and prove that it would be a good idea for the Avengers to intervene in the European war. Heimdall tried to warn Thor that by seeing the future he would lock that particular eventuality immovably into place, but Thor insisted that Heimdall see it and report its results. Heimdall looked into the future and reported to Thor that the Avengers would win the battle in Rotruvia but would not gain victory of Doctor Doom. A cocky Thor told Heimdall that his prediction was wrong and that the Avengers would overcome Doom, then Thor requested Heimdall send the super hero team to the Rotruvian battlefield.

The Avengers were transported to the battlefield in Rotruvia, and in the ensuing battle were able to win stop Doctor Doom's troops by destroying Doom's ultimate war weapon. However, destroying the device triggered a failsafe that caused an alchemicla radiation to be emmited and eliminating every trace above and underground of the mineral Molynite found in the country of Rotruvia. With Molynite being Rotruvia's primary export, the country was thrown to the brink of economic collapse, and the leaders of Rotruvia had no choice but to offer themselves in subjegation to be annexed by Doctor Doom's neighboring country. True to Heimdall's predictions, the Avengers were able to win the battle against Doom, but Doctor Doom had the final victory in successfully achieving his end goal of annexing the country of Rotruvia into his own.

In the present, Thor (Jane Foster) reflects on how the Avengers team should have listened to Heimdall in the past. Acknowledging the past mistakes of the previous Thor, the current Thor rejects an offer by Heimdall to tell her how many days her mortal body of Jane Foster has left before it succumbs to cancer. Heimdall sends Thor on to her next adventure, emploring her to not trust in her power in the days ahead, but in her conscience.
