- Almuric was written by Robert E. Howard. It was originally serialized in three parts in the magazine Weird Tales beginning in May 1939.
- The novel was first published in book form in 1964 by Ace Books.
- The story was adapted Marvel Comics in an eponymous four-parts story, spanning from Epic Illustrated #2 to 5 (from Summer, 1980, to April, 1981).

- Many names are shared by Almuric and other creations of Robert E. Howard's creations (including Conan):
- The name "Almuric" was part of an incantation during the Hyborian Age.[5]
- "Thak" is frequently invoked by the Guras[1][2][4] but is also an ape-man during the Hyborian Age.[6]
- "Koth" is a city on Almuric,[2] but also a nation in the Hyborian Age.[7]
- "Zal"[2][4] is also a character in the Hyborian Age.[8]
- The name of the Hyborian age character Thugra Khotan correspond to the name of a city of Almuric ("Thugra")[3] and the name of the denizens of Koth ("Kothan(s)").[4]
- "Bragi" is also the name of an Aesir featured in the Valley of the Worm.
