Alvaro Cordova was an alcoholic who physically abused his family in drunkenness. When he was about to hit his wife after she had defended his eldest son Juan, the son ran to his mother's aid by pushing his father who slapped his forehead on the table and lost consciousness. The mother suggested that Juan escape before his father recovered as he would be very angry with him.[1]
