History

Early Life

Amanda Armstrong's father was a secret federal agent killed in the line of duty by A.I.M., though the public and Amanda were led to believe he had been murdered by a drug cartel. As a young adult, Amanda became a small-time musician under the stage name of Amanda Strong. One night after a performance, she was recruited into S.H.I.E.L.D. by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, hoping to use her career as a cover for missions around the world.^[1]

Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

With the help of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s contacts, Amanda became a moderately successful vocalist for her own band. One night before travelling to Germany to deliver a package, she met the package's courier, a fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. agent named Jude. When she arrived in Hamburg, Amanda's cover was blown, and she was attacked by an assassin. Jude saved her life, later admitting that he had followed her to Germany hoping to see her performance and ask her on a date afterwards.^[1] Amanda Armstrong and Jude found themselves attacked by enemies who blew up the door to their room. Jude shot down the attackers, two Hydra agents disguised as bellmen. As they took cover from more pursuers, Amanda and Jude interlocked eyes.^[2]

Relationship with Jude

Amanda continued her career, and caught a glimpse of Jude in the crowd of one of her concerts. In the backstage, Jude approached her and invited her to go out.^[2]

Two years later, Amanda and Jude reunited during one of her recording sessions, after he had been gone for a long time. Amanda gave him a wrapped gift, which turned out to be a positive pregnancy test.^[2]

Tragic End

Nine months later, Amanda awoke in the middle of the night and noticed blood on the floor. She thinks her water broke, but noticed the blood stains form a trail of blood to the bathroom, where Amanda found Jude stitching a wound in the side of his torso. As Amanda assisted him, they began to discuss the future of their lives. Amanda mentioned that she has quit S.H.I.E.L.D., and Jude suggested to run away and disappeared that very same day. When Amanda questioned their financial future, Jude stated that he has money.Jude began to explain that organizations like S.H.I.E.L.D. only use people, and aren't much more different than Hydra. To Amanda's bewilderment, Jude revealed that Hydra has arranged it so they would never have to worry about anything. Amanda questioned his loyalty to S.H.I.E.L.D., to which Jude expressed that the world is just a game, and it only mattered if you gain more than what you came into it with. He eventually revealed that he has been working for Hydra, suspiciously clarifying that he started after stopping them from killing Amanda. Amanda inquired about his activities within Hydra, and Jude explained that he has sold them intelligence, selling out fellow agents in the process. Jude tried to calm down Amanda, but she stabs him in the neck with a pair of scissors.^[2]

Giving up Tony

It was after that she made arrangement with S.H.I.E.L.D. to put the baby up for adoption.^[2] Amanda birthed and gave up for adoption a baby in Sofia, Bulgaria. The birth records of the baby were taken by some agency, and the hospital manager decided to save those of Amanda.^[3]

Meeting Tony Stark

Decades later, Amanda had retired and became a London-based music producer. When Tony Stark investigated his true parentage, he found that Amanda could've been his true mother, and visited her at her record label.^[3] She revealed she was and the two embraced as she calld him, "My boy." .^[2]
