Threshold[]
War with the Unbreathing and Death[]
Amass is a mutant of the Threshold. On the declining of their society, caused by the war with the Unbreathing and the massacre caused by the sentient bacteria Sublime and Arkea. Grove selected Amass along with Crave and Theia as a trio whose powers would allow them to transcend time to either find help or preserve their history if help wasn't possible, the Threshold Three. The Threshold Three locked themselves in one body, thanks to Amass' powers, and were launched through time with Theia's powers as a living time capsule.[2]. Unfortunately, the Shi'ar order known as the Kin Crimson foresaw the Threshold Three's attempt and so they intercepted them and they were vaporized. However, the Kin preserved their combined DNA in a timedrive that was stored on the Shi'ar equipment stolen by Magneto to complete Avalon.[1]
Theft of the Timedrive and Resurrection[]
After 2 billion years, the Marauders, who had time-travelled to the destruction of Avalon, managed to recover the timedrive and erase the memories of the parties involved in the destruction, the Acolytes and Nemesis.[1] A few days later, on Krakoa, even though their DNA had degraded, Cerebra used her powers to reconfigure the sequence and summoned the Five to resurrect the Threshold Three. After they were resurrected, the Marauders informed them of what had happened to them and they told them of Threshold's history.[2]
Time-Travel to Threshold[]
With the Marauders, the Threshold Three travelled back to ancient Threshold. Unfortunately, they were unable to save Threshold.[4] After returning to the future, Captain Pryde commissioned the resurrection of the Threshold Three because they had died 2 billions year ago but the records of their DNA and Cerebro backups were still on present-day Krakoa.[3]
War College[]
Amass was recommended by the Quiet Council of Krakoa and the Great Captains to be tutored by Bishop as part of his War College operation. Bishop's method involved intensive and ruthless exercises, raising tensions between him and his pupils. Bishop eventually readapted his method with Tempo's help, earning his cadets' approval. However, they were unexpectedly attacked by the Fenris during their training and Bishop was inadvertently transported by Tempo to Earth-63.[5] The Fenris used Blightswill to weaken the young mutants and their power went out of control. in a fight between Andreas Von Strucker and Cam Long they both got absorbed into Amass, and they started attacking Andrea.[6] Andrea managed to divide the three and Amass and Cam were both caught by Orchis[7] but were freed by their team members, who got their powers back[8] just in time for Bishop and Tempo to come back. They all fought Orchis together and left Fenris in the Pit. Then they all graduated from War College and Amass got a B+, with notes from Bishop about the fact that Amass has good potential but he's not ready to fight in a group yet.[9]Attributes
Powers
Lifeform Fusion: Amass is able to combine himself and other mutants into one being.[2] While they have one body, the minds of all beings remain separate and can communicate with each other and each control their original powers.[10]
- Mutant Sensing: Amass can also sense if others are "compatible" with him, in other words, if they are mutants or not.[2][10]
