Synopsis for "El tesoro de la ciudad perdida"
El Señor Jameson leaves his office discreetly to meet an old sailor man in an old abandoned dock. Jameson pays good money for a document that he expects will bring him money (A treasure map). Jameson decides he needs help in the trip, so he'll recruit two of his employees, Robertson and Peter (who is secretly el Hombre Araña), claiming that this is for a photographic report. He phones Robertson and reprimands him because he, Jameson, had left without Robertson noticing; then he asks Robertson to call Peter because Jameson wants to talk with both of them early in the next morning; Robertson assumes they will be reprimanded for not paying him attention. Robertson tells Peter, and he agrees but he'll have to bring Gwen, because they had already arranged to meet. The following day, Peter introduces Gwen to Jameson, but they had already met. Jameson orders Robertson and Peter to join them for an urgent sea trip; as Peter had plans with Gwen, Jameson agrees to bring her too, but she'll learn journalism and work during the trip. Jameson rented a boat. He secretly warns the captain to not tell any detail to the Clarín employees (and indeed the crew refuses to talk with Peter). The captain warns that their destination is dangerous and uninhabitable. After two days sailing, they reach the island and all of them (journalists and crew) reach the shore in a launch. Only then, Jameson finally reveals the map showing a skull-shaped rock in the center of the island where, supposedly, gold lingot were waiting for them. The old man sailor had also told Jameson about the remains of a German bomber of the World War 2, and primitive men that worship the bomber "as a sky bird." The cavemen-like primitive men find the party, but they are apparently scared of strangers and take them to an abandoned city, where the bomber is. Initially attentive, the cavemen suddenly threaten the party with their spears. Peter cannot help them without revealing his secret identity. The primitive men take Gwen as a sacrifice and she's delivered to a colossal cavemen dressed in human skins. The giant grabs Gwen in his hand...
Notes
- Peter has clearly black hair in several panels. Robertson changes from having black-bluish hair to brown hair, probably because the colorist's work is easier and cheaper than giving him white hair.
- This story seems to be an adaptation of Amazing Spider-Man #103 and Amazing Spider-Man #104. Several panels are copied from Gil Kane's art in those Other panels are more inspired in Neal Adams's, John Romita's, Mike Sekowsky's or other artists.
