Synopsis for "Seeing Red"

Peter is shocked to learn that his clone Ben Reilly is the Jackal. Ben tells him that after he died the first time in Peter's arms, he saw his body dissolve and that he realized he was a clone. Shortly after, however, Miles Warren had recovered his ashes, and at one point he had recreated him. Warren's new process allowed clones to retain memories until the moment of death, making them indistinguishable from the originals. Unfortunately, however, the procedure left the clones affected by cellular degeneration that would have killed them quickly. Attempting to fix the flaw in his process, Warren killed and revived Ben twenty-five times. Eventually Ben broke free and subdued the Jackal took his place by creating a cure for cellular degeneration which is not permanent. Peter is baffled but Ben tells him that this way they can bring back to life all those they have lost and / or failed to save.
