Synopsis for "Hunted: Part 1"

Despite feeling horrible from his cold yet still adamant to help, Spider-Man still rushes to the aid of Felicia and Billy. Telling himself that the kidnappings so far by Black Ant and Taskmaster had not affected him much, but now that their taking Billy and Black Cat has changed that mindset. Amid their imprisonment, Felicia does her best to comfort a scared Billy when Kraven shows up to clarify his mission at hand. Knowing that Spider-Man will rush in to rescue her, Kraven wants to use Black Cat as bait to lure him into a trap, infuriating Felicia that she's playing the damsel in distress.

Meanwhile, Spidey reaches the origin where Felicia sent the S.O.S. and is further weakened by mysterious chemicals from Kraven's trap. From the scene and kidnapped animal themed criminals, Peter now guesses that Kraven was the mastermind behind everything. Remains confused as to why Kraven hired two mercenaries, he is then attacked by Kraven's Last son. Spider-Man fights as best he can with his weakened state, even managing to score some good shots, but he is too fatigued from his infection in addition to the mysterious green mist. As the mists he breathes in makes him dazed, Peter has a premonition of the near future, one in which Mary Jane is on the ground, blood spilling, seemingly dead. This distracts him long enough for Kraven's son to capture him, and Spider-Man wakes up later in Central Park wearing the black costume, surrounded by various animal themed super villains. Attacked by Scorpion, their skirmish is interrupted by an assault by an army of hunter-robots.

Solicit Synopsis

“HUNTED” PART 1

We’ve been teasing a huge Kraven story since ASM #1 — and “HUNTED” is here to deliver it! Sergei Kravinoff and his minions have been kidnapping animal-themed characters for months, but they need one more to complete the collection — the Spider. But what does Kraven even want with all of them?! Find out in “HUNTED”!

Notes

  • This issue clarifies the status of Kraven's immortality saying that his temporary death in Scarlet Spider (Vol. 2) #23 at the hands of Kaine didn't break the curse.
