Synopsis for 1st story
Back during Knull's invasion, Hobie Brown recalled how the Avengers were busy fighting back and that the Fantastic Four were nowhere to be found. As these were Symbiotes, Spider-Man had a history of fighting them but he wasn't found either. But as one symbiote possessed person was attacking a mother and child, Hobie Brown donned the Hornet's Suit and fought off a pack by using sonic based gear to free people of their enthrallments. But with all the damage and devastation left over, Damage Control would've come in to clean up and fix things, while Hobie was left thinking about the people affected.
At present, Hobie pitches to Mindy McPherson that his company Fairgray, currently a crowd-funding platform, could help the people. While she reminds him it's a platform, he aims to evolve it and cites Yasmin Adir, a casualty of a battle between Luke Cage's Mighty Avengers fighting some extra-dimensional raiders. Yasmin was hit and has spent the last couple of years slowly morphing into crystal, losing mobility daily and crowd-funding herself to be comfortable awaiting her death. With Hobie's connections to the Avengers-- Dr. Voodoo, Scott Lang, Tony Stark-- and also Peter, he aims to cure Yasmin and help hundreds of others; from devastated towns to alien infections. But Janelle calls, the Beyond Corporation bought their building, confiscated all their work, and fired the staff.
Meeting his lawyer Roddy at Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway, Roddy tells Hobie that Stark officially owned Fairgray, then sold to Rand Corp until Monday morning before Kalibank LTD bought them, a subsidiary to the Beyond Corporation. The sale of Fairgray gave a payout of $15 Million, exciting a happy Hobie planning to use that seed money start a new app. However, Mindy explains that her research found that every single employee was over paid, and the company was bought for triple its actual value at almost $200 Million. As Beyond paid extra for expediting the purchases and ensure immediate ownership, she asks him why Beyond Corp. would, a company with subdivisions for everything, would want to buy Fairgray and precisely take Hobie's servers. As corporations are extra meticulous with detailing why they acquire and buy, she needs to see the documents so Hobie infiltrates with his Hornet armor and gets the files without incident.
Returning home, Mindy voices how upset she is that he stole the data, but both were surprised to see just how much information was contained. Before they could examine further, the perimeter alarm blares as Cassie St. Commons is entrapped in a teleportation blocker. Explaining she pursued him for wearing her friend's gear, Hobie frees her to explain herself. With her limited precognition abilities from taking medication, her psi-linked friend Johnny sent visions of the Beyond logo. She tried to play it solo but yielded no results, and followed Hobie to ask for help as he got in and out of Beyond easy. Mentioning "Kroatan Farms", Hobie remembers a file named such that he glanced at before Cassie's arrival. The file lists a King's Crossing defunct dairy farm closed after an incident with the Fantastic Four, bought for cheap. As they all believe Beyond is up to shady dealings, Mindy will comb through the documents while Hobie and Cassie investigate the farm.
Two hours later in Herkimer County, Cassie and Hobie portal just outside the farm's location, still sensing Johnny inside but cannot reach due to a teleportation shield. Knowing something is amiss, Hobie and Cassie begin their infiltration, and Cassie dons her Dusk attire. Inside the facility, Hornet's HUD shows an open space 200 yards below, and they can portal to it once inside the property. Relocating past a sealed hatchway, the pair come upon Johnny in his Richochet suit, fighting monsters protecting various operators. As Hornet explains they are his rescue, Cassie brings up Johnny's weeks long absence and Hornet deduces a temporal dilation factor, realizing the auto-shutdown was scrambled.
Recalling Ricochet's mutant abilities, and accounting for the dimensional distortions around the off-switch, Hornet uses his suit's power emitters to stabilize the anomaly and has Dusk open a small portal to allow Ricochet to reach the off-switch. While Johnny complies, he still wishes to talk about "the new guy" wearing Eddie's Hornet suit. Successful, the extra-dimsensional portal and aliens disappear as the time dilation is finally negated. As Johnny tells Cassie that he's been working for Beyond's hero division, ignorant to the time dilation of weeks passing, Dr. Eliot Swenson is impressed by Hornet's genius and physical prowess. Asking him to consider joining his team, he hands his business card, directly stating he wants to hire Hornet and asks he call him in the morning.
