Synopsis for 1st story
On TV, with the world in a panic after the Progenitor declared poolindividual and collective judgments on humanity, NYC News covers how people are spending the next 24 hours either looting or granting kindness. With the live coverage, news anchor Gayle gives an honest admission that the media's coverage of violence is practically monetizing violence, as her co-anchor tries to dismiss her commentary, trying to position the news as "neutral." The coverage plays on Peter's bedroom TV as he calls Iron Man to verify the space god's machinations, such as presenting itself as someone from one's past who may be dead. Stark confirms such is possible and asks why Peter's asking, with Peter stating no real reason while an apparition of Gwen Stacy stares at Peter with her thumb in a pre-judgment position. Asking Randy if he can see her, Randy cannot and is more focused on holding Peter to his promise to help him find a tuxedo to wear to his wedding, more concerned about Janice's temper than a Celestial, and Peter chooses to keep his word and help Randy find a tuxedo. After the pair finds the right tuxedo, the tailor that fits Randy states he'll show his worth by an honest day's work, and Randy agrees with him before asking how Peter will spend his day; after Looking at the Gwen illusion, Peter decides to see Aunt May. At May's home, Peter fixed her faucet and told her how much he loved her before heading out to check on others in his life. As May wishes him well as he takes his leave, May assures him she'll be alright, unbothered by the judgment, while the Progenitor takes the form of Uncle Ben for her judgment.
When Peter goes to see Jonah, his once hardline boss is now hugging and apologetic, trying to make amends for so many burned bridges in his life. Answering a call from Robbie Robertson, Peter interjects to voice his forgiveness for Jonah's behavior after all these years. Jonah thanks Peter for his words, and Peter jokingly asks Jonah to say so a little louder so it can be heard as far as the North Pole. Relocating to a rooftop he frequents, Peter finds that Ben isn't coming and doesn't know why he tries anymore. He explains Ben being his clone and them sharing points of interest having shared early memories, but also that Ben is missing[1] or worse, but can't shake the feeling he'll see him again standing on the rooftop, maybe able to help him. Not wanting to waste more time, Spider-Man web-swings to meet Spider-Man (Miles) after webbing up a looting Rocket Racer, and tells Miles he's thankful to share the Spider-Man moniker with him. Peter soon returns to his apartment and tries to get some sleep despite the staring judgemental glare of the Gwen apparition. Called into work, Peter goes after a lengthy stare by Gwen, and meets Kamala Khan at Oscorp ready to conduct a test on a new engine. While Peter tries to dodge saying Norman's name with "Gwen" observing him, he chooses to conduct the engine test as he promised Kamala to run it as he trusts her, and the two comment how much they appreciate the other. However, Norman Osborn still arrives wanting to see the engine test, not wanting to stay home while calling in others to work. Seeing the shock on Gwen's face, Peter panics telling Norman to leave and chases after Gwen who fled to the rooftop. Confused as to who Gwen was, Kamala comments to "Captain Marvel" that she told her that Peter was weird, and asks if she saw her being nice to him.
Peter catches up to Gwen on the roof of Oscorp Tower, understanding how upset she is but concludes she isn't the Gwen he knows as his Spider Sense would have felt it. Peter concludes the Celestial glimpsed his memories and saw how he often would ask Gwen how she thought of him and how he lived his life since her death, and Peter wants to explain himself. Having lost someone he loved six months ago, he wanted to do everything he could to get her back, but not eveyone agreed with his tactics so no one wanted to help him, except Norman, and although he succeeded, it didn't work out the way he wanted it to. But now Norman has a fresh start at being a good man, and Peter sees it as his responsibility to keep Norman from being the man who killed Gwen, doing so because he still loves her. With judgment reached, the Progenitor deems Peter worthy and momentarily revives Gwen as a gift, whom Peter can tell is real. Seeing her again, Peter bawls up in tears and so too does Gwen, both telling how they've missed the other and Gwen fades back to her rest as the Progenitor only wanted to see Peter's heart open up again. As Peter comments on the day he's had, Norman saw from the doorway the real Gwen met with Peter, and squares himself upright again after a brief anxiety attack. Telling himself everything was fine, unbeknownst to him, Gwen was behind him with sharp focused eyes illuminated red as the Progenitor was judging Norman.
