Synopsis for "Lair of the N'Garai"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Wolverine 1995 #1
Wolverine is prowling the woods around the Xavier Institute when he senses something is amiss. He discovers the Cairn, a mystical portal that has caused trouble before. Realizing something dangerous came through, Logan follows the tracks of a menacing creature heading towards the X-Men. He finds and battles a N’Garai demon to protect his fellow X-Men.

Meanwhile, at the Xavier Institute, the X-Men and their guest Nightcrawler are repairing the Blackbird when an alarm goes off. They detect the N’Garai's presence and learn that Logan is missing. Worried, Nightcrawler enters the Cairn and travels to the Dimension of the N'Garai to find him. Once there, Kurt encounters Logan fighting the demons and struggling to control his feral instincts.

Logan gets wounded during the battle, but the demons are eventually defeated. Logan then battles their leader, Kierrok, and proves to be more formidable than the N'Garai had anticipated, so Kierrok sends some of his minions to the world of men to wreak havoc, causing the two X-Men to return to Earth to stop them. Once those who made it to Earth have been killed, Kurt tries to stop Logan from going back through the Cairn to confront Kierrok, but Logan is determined to finish the fight. However, Kierrok then appears and reveals that he had used his minions to lure them through the Cairn and back to Earth because Logan had inflicted severe damage to his horde. Kierrok warns them that he still plans to conquer Earth and has an eternity in which to do so while their existence is fleeting, then disappears with the Cairn. An explosion separates Logan from the X-Men, leaving them concerned about his well-being. Logan struggles with his violent urges and wonders if he can control the killing rage inside him.

Synopsis for "Third Genesis"

Reprint of the 1st story from
Generation X #1
The Generation X mutants settle in at the X Academy in western Massachusetts headed by Sean “Banshee” Cassidy and Emma “White Queen” Frost. X Academy is located at the site of the former Hellions School also headed by Emma. Outside the building is a “Danger Grotto” natural area where the students train. Sean is upset that Emma went against his wishes by letting them spar so soon. Ambitious Paige “Husk” Guthrie jogs as X-Men veteran Jubilee mocks her. Monet “M” St. Croix has a superior attitude and comes from a privileged Monaco family. St. Louis native Everett “Synch” Thomas explores the grounds with Los Angeles street smart Angelo “Skin” Espinosa.

Greeting arriving student Jonothon “Chamber” Starsmore at the Boston airport, the team is attacked by vampiric super-villain Emplate.  Emplate is accompanied by his henchman chauffeur “D.O.A.”  Monet seems to have some familiarity with Emplate. Emplate is driven back by Generation X and retreats.

Returning to the X Academy, they see Jubilee’s teleporter friend Gateway sitting in the grounds.  Jubilee discovers a nearby unconscious red-skinned mutant (Penance) apparently teleported by Gateway.  Sean carries Penance inside to the infirmary.
