History

Andrew King was a college professor of parapsychology and a colleague and boyfriend of Erica Fortune. He was aware of her telekinetic abilities, and when Erica received a grant to do research for her PhD in England and couldn't go because she had to look after her two siblings, Sally and Roy, Andrew offered to let the two spend the summer at his parents' ranch so she could go to England. It was then that two young aliens appeared from a dimensional portal followed by the demon Zxaxz and Andrew witnessed the first fight between Erica, who had become the Spellbinder and Zxaxz, ending with the demon's destruction.[1]

Having perfected her new powers, Erica went to university to surprise Andrew and show him her control over the powers. Andrew used the opportunity to study both the young alien Snugg and Erica's abilities in his laboratory and noted that her behavior was not normal. When Snugg challenged Erica to recreate Zxaxz in order to take the crown from him and become a true Spellbinder, Andrew tried to dissuade her but failed with Erica who recreated Zxaxz but this time she was unable to defeat him.[2]

After Zxaxz escaped, Andrew attempted to turn away reporters harassing Erica for an interview. Still harassed by reporters, Erica fled to her apartment where Andrew joined her trying to console her. Soon after Andrew agreed to accompany Sally as her father's substitute to a gathering of kids at Father White's Youth Club, not imagining that Father White had been possessed by Zxaxz. At the Youth Club, Zxaxz revealed himself and attempted to capture Sally to bring Erica out and Andrew participated in the fight with Zxaxz managing to save Sally from a fall while Erica and Zxaxz fought. After the fight Andrew scolded the reporters that they didn't want to leave Erica alone.[3]

More and more corrupted by power, Erica was getting closer and closer to insanity and Andrew's calming effect was also waning with Erica behaving in an increasingly extravagant and uncontrollable way even though he was always beside her taking care of Sally too. After yet another strange behavior that endangered her sister Sally, Andrew convinced Erica to give up the bracelet of order and the chaos that drove her crazy.[4]

Andrew took Erica and Sally to her cabin in Upstate New York to keep her away from Zxaxz. There Andrew discovers that Erica no longer needs the bracelets but she herself has the power. After Erica also discovered that she no longer needed the bracelets, Andrew convinced her not to go to New York by revealing that Zxaxz had killed some people and the affection he still bore her despite everything that had happened. Erica was convinced but just then a phone call came from Roy telling her that Zxaxz was in his pursuit, so Erica was preparing to launch herself to rescue her brother and Andrew told her that to fight Zxaxz she needed all the help she could get and gave to her the two bracelets.[5]

Andrew reached the scene of the fight between Erica and Zxaxz and he could watch only passively. At the end of the fight, Erica decided that for the good of all it was better if she disappeared along with Zxaxz and told Andrew who reluctantly had to accept it and has been taking care of her two brothers ever since.[6]

Years later, having agreed to take care of Sally and Roy, Andrew had an argument with Roy because he did not want to continue his studies but during the discussion a man possessed by Zxaxz showed up who transported everyone to his dimension.[7]

Prisoners in the dimension of Zxaxz due to Snugg's betrayal, but she did so in good faith convinced that if they returned the bracelets to Zxaxz he would leave them alone, Andrew and Sally were freed by Roy who used his powers and they all returned on Earth with Erica who was imprisoned in a crystal.[8]

Freed from the crystal, Erica did not recognize Andrew or her brothers and thought they were her captors, so she began to fight with her brother Roy and during their fight Andrew was hit by the rubble thrown by Erica's power, killing him.[9]
