History

Simon Halloway was the brother of Tom Halloway, the original Angel and one of the first mystery men of the 1930s and 1940s. At some point, Simon assumed the identity of the Angel as well.[citation needed]

In recent years, Simon fell on hard times and began living on the streets and in the subway tunnels of New York City. Despite his senior citizen status and poor living conditions, Simon retained his physical prowess to some degree. He was murdered by the serial killer Zeitgeist, who targeted costumed heroes. Zeitgeist thought Simon was the original Angel, and Angel was the first modern costumed hero, making Simon a desirable target.[1]

Notes

  • Used by Peter David in a few stories, he was originally intended to be Tom Halloway, the original Angel, but was later retconned into the brother of the original.
  • While Marvel Super-Heroes (Vol. 2) #7 is the first verified appearance of Simon Halloway, presumably some of the Angel stories published in the 1940s featured Simon (while most featured his brother Tom). However, Simon's Angel stories have not been identified yet.
