History

Agent Anne Weaver is the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent put in charge of S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy's science division. After an incident where the Academy's pool froze with students still in it, Agent Weaver asked agents Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons to investigate the disturbance.[1]

When Hydra activated its agents within S.H.I.E.L.D., Sci-Tech was assaulted. Agent Weaver sent a message to Simmons warning her to barricade herself in wherever she was and warned her to not trust anyone, shortly before an explosion cut off her transmission.[2]

A S.H.I.E.L.D. squadron was later sent by Robert Gonzales which managed to liberate the Academy. Weaver subsequently joined Gonzales' reconstituted S.H.I.E.L.D. based on the idea of transparency rather than Nick Fury's mantra of compartmentalization. When they learned that Coulson had formed his own S.H.I.E.L.D., they sent in agents Mack and Bobbi Morse to gather information.[3][4]

When Morse's ex-husband, Lance Hunter, came close to exposing her and Mack, Mack was forced to abduct him and bring him to the aircraft carrier Iliad, where Weaver and her colleagues brought the mercenary up to speed on their activities. Hunter later managed to escape the sea carrier using one of the submersible pods. Weaver managed to scramble the pod's communications to prevent Hunter from warning Coulson, though he had disabled the pod's GPS. Weaver predicted that Hunter would reach the mainland in twelve hours, giving Morse six hours to retrieve the Toolbox from Coulson.[3]

After Gonzales' forces captured the Playground, Weaver was reunited with Fitz and Simmons. She told her former students that they were truly working for S.H.I.E.L.D. before asking for Simmons help in patching up Mack. Weaver later captured Agent Melinda May, who had helped Coulson escape.[4]
