History

While working as an agent for S.H.I.E.L.D., Tony Masters was given the pneumonic preparation serum. This gave him the ability to replicate any physical action observed by him. Using his powers, Tony became the Taskmaster a mercenary and military instructor. Later, he was recruited by Nick Fury and is currently a member of the Secret Avengers.[1]

Master of Dance[]

Participating in a New York dance game, Taskmaster mastered the game by copying dance moves and creating his own. He challenged a passing hero by doing three dance sequences that the hero can copy exactly, and as a reward, Taskmaster gave him a prize.[2]

MODOK Operandi[]

Upon discovering that there is a hero who defeated Thanos and Fin Fang Foom in New York, Taskmaster went after that hero to become powerful and unbeatable. Upon arriving in Central Park, he discovered that this hero was Squirrel Girl who had strange wings. Squirrel Girl attacked Taskmaster, but he managed to defeat her. The girl reveals that she wasn't in control when she put the wings on, as if she was being mind controlled, and that she had received these wings as a strange gift.

Investigating who sent Squirrel Girl the gift, Anthony discovers that other heroes also received strange gifts, so he went after one of them: Echo. He found Echo under the name of Ronin with glasses and fighting Iron Fist, he soon helps the hero and they manage to free Echo. Investigating further and destroying mind control signal towers, Taskmaster discovered that whoever sent these gifts was at Roxxon Power Station.

At Roxxon Power Station, Echo and Taskmaster meet M.O.D.O.K., who was wearing an antenna on his head to get his mind control powers advanced enough to control the entire city. The two would try to stop M.O.D.O.K., so the villain sends his A.I.M. soldiers and some heroes he is controlling (Beta Ray Bill, She-Hulk, Swordsman and Captain Britain) to defeat them, but the two free the heroes and defeat M.O.D.O.K.[2]

Kang's Invasion[]

When brought to Chronopolis by Kang, Taskmaster in Hala created a game where one would have to see a group of people and notice something different about them. An ally agreed to play this game and he got all three straights right, which impressed Taskmaster and reminded him of his wife.[1]
