Reportedly a big-time racketeer, Tony Scarlatti got where he was by betraying Nick Pinto, resulting in Pinto being sentenced to death. After his execution, however, Pinto showed up alive at Scarlatti’s office, frightening his former henchman before fatally shooting him. Left to die, Scarlatti made a telephone call to police headquarters, telling the answering desk sergeant who had killed him before expiring.[1]
