History

Cletus Kasady bonded with the Anti-Carnage Symbiote and sought to atone for the terrible crimes he had previously committed. He joined Agent Venom-1051's squad of multiversal Symbiotes seeking to stop Carnage of Earth-616 from massacring his way across the Multiverse. He was recruited as a secret weapon with the hope that his Anti-Venom serum could damage and potentially kill Carnage.

The Symbiote Squad traveled to Earth-13659 where Anti-Venom and Anti-Carnage were lying low in an ambush. When Carnage attacked the Squad, Symbiote Spider-Man snickered that Carnage wasn't the only one who could bait a trap. Virus and Agent Venom then opened fire with Anti-Venom Serum-laced bullets while Silence, Anti-Venom, and Anti-Carnage leapt into the fray. Anti-Carnage impaled Carnage-616 from behind, intending to find atonement by vanquishing the alternate version of his former self. As Anti-Carnage's symbiote-cleansing powers began affecting it, Carnage let out a scream of rage and pain. Activating the Hell-Mark, Carnage immolated Anti-Carnage with hellfire and assimilated his symbiote, leaving the Symbiote Squad horrified. Standing over Cletus Kasady's burning corpse, Carnage noted that it wasn't sure if that would work but becoming immune to Anti-Venom was worth the risk. However, Carnage then doubled over with a scream of pain as all the symbiotes it had absorbed began bursting out of it; Agent Venom noting that Anti-Carnage was tearing it apart from the inside.

The Symbiote Squad watched in shock as Carnage - destabilized by having assimilated the Anti-Carnage symbiote - let out a scream of agony, every symbiote it had absorbed to empower itself tearing free from its body, including Anti-Carnage itself. Symbiote Spider-Man pointed to the red vein-like markings covering their bodies and noted that their codexes have incarnated using Carnage and Anti-Carnage's matter. Impaling Carnage from behind with his claws, Anti-Carnage lamented having tried to heal it, saying he should have just gone for the kill, but Carnage formed a massive tendril from its back and knocked him away. Snarling that it now understood that its flesh and powers have not rebelled against it, Carnage declared that the codexes manifesting were due to its subconscious desire to test itself by throwing its weaknesses and stolen powers back at itself, Anti-Carnage among them.
