History

In the wake of Dark Carnage's assault Doctor Steven - the head of Alchemax's astrobiology department - obtained samples of Weapon V's Sym-Soldier Suits,[2] cloned offshoots of the Grendel symbiote-dragon that had been lobotomized and severed from the Symbiote Hive-Mind to prevent them from taking over their hosts.[3] Inspired by Flash Thompson's transformation into Agent Anti-Venom, Dr. Steve began work on creating mass-produced Anti-Venom battlesuits by combining Weapon V's Sym-Suit samples with his Astrobiological Serum - itself derived from samples of the original Anti-Venom symbiote. However, Dr. Steve encountered setbacks due to the Sym-Suits' living abyss proving incompatible with the Anti-Venom Serum, resulting in the prototype battlesuits only being able to function for a few minutes before dissipating.

Warned of the dark god Knull and his impending attack on Earth by Venom, Doctor Steve managed to produce a handful of prototypes that were procured by the Black Cat to rescue Doctor Strange - who had been captured by Knull and imprisoned in a massive sphere of living abyss. Bonding to one of the Anti-Venom Suits, the Black Cat was able to locate Doctor Strange and bond him to a second Anti-Venom Suit. Black Cat's Anti-Venom Suit was destabilized by Knull's malice and dissipated shortly thereafter, forcing her to use Dr. Strange's Yggdrasil Staff to fend off Knull's horde of symbiote-dragons.[2]

Alchemax was seemingly able to perfect the "Anti-Venom Strain" of symbiote, merging one with a sample of the Carnage symbiote to create the Misery symbiote.[1]

Notes

  • Flash Thompson's Agent Anti-Venom symbiote is technically a prototype of the Anti-Venom Battlesuits created using a portion of the Venom symbiote.[4] However, while it - like the original Anti-Venom symbiote - has not been shown to have an independent consciousness, unlike Alchemax's mass-produced version it is not severed from the Symbiote Hive-Mind.[5]
  • The Anti-Venom Suits are corrosive to normal symbiotes, but in their incomplete prototype state are able to be corroded by them as well.[2]
