History

After bonding with the Venom symbiote for a while, Peter had small amounts of it in his body and it attempted to get control of him while he and Miles helped trapped people in the City Hall against other symbiotes. Miles asked Martin Li to help Peter and he transferred all of his negative power to the remnants of Venom in Spider-Man's body, creating Anti-Venom, a symbiote that does not corrupt the host and had the ability to burn other symbiotes with its touch.

Anti-Venom would be used against Harry Osborn possessed by Venom, then Peter would succeed in purging Harry of the symbiote. Anti-Venom was not affected when the meteorite was destroyed and remained bonded to Peter.[1]

Attributes

Powers

Mutated Symbiote Biology: The Anti-Venom symbiote has all the powers of the Venom symbiote when it was used by Spider-Man, plus some additional abilities when created by Martin Li's Lightforce.

Notes

  • In Earth-616, the Anti-Venom Symbiote was created when Martin Li used his Lightforce powers to cure Eddie Brock of his cancer, causing the Venom symbiote's remnants to merge with Brock's antibodies. In Earth-1048, this version of Anti-Venom was created when Mister Negative and Miles Morales combined their energy powers to sever Peter from the Symbiotes Hive-Mind, converting the symbiote matter in Peter's body into the Venom symbiote's antithesis.
  • In Marvel's Spider-Man 2, the Anti-Venom symbiote departed from the comic book version, as it was depicted being overpowered and damaged by Venom in their final confrontation. Additionally, unlike in the comic version where contact with Anti-Venom symbiote would result in burning, Venom can effortlessly touch Anti-Venom symbiote without any adverse effects, though, Venom can still get burned in the cutscenes.
  • Concept art revealed that the Anti-Venom suit was supposed to be fabric rather than actual classic alien, with no moving eyes and different design.[2]
    • A second concept design of Anti-Venom suit later revealed in "The Art of Marvel's Spider-Man 2", which is almost identical to the final version but with black lines.

Trivia

  • The Anti-Venom suit bore a resemblance to the Synthetic Symbiote from the Marvel's Spider-Man animated series and Future Foundation suit.
