History
Aram-Set was an Egyptian pharaoh. He was approached by Uatu the Watcher, who convinced him that mankind's destiny was to become gods. When a meteor carrying Vibranium struck in the pharaohs lands, he ordered his servants to rip the meteor from the earth and to shape the metal into the form of the Moon-God Khonshu.[1]
Aram-Set, now calling himself simply Set, was convinced that the destiny Uatu had spoken of meant immortality. He had his slaves build a temple for his rebirth, and ordered his chief priest to mix a special embalming fluid that would grant him immortality. As per tradition, Set's slaves would be slain and buried with him. Aware of this, chief N'Kantu led a slave revolt, and succeeded in murdering Set.[1]
Fearing that Set would indeed make his way back from the grave if his instructions were followed, the Chief Priest, who had aspirations for the throne, put down the revolt and instead put N'Kantu through the ceremony intended for Set. The process worked, after a fashion, turning N'Kantu into the Living Mummy.[1]
