The Armagedron was an experimental weapon that Doctor Doom had worked on for years to destroy the Fantastic Four. In preparation for his wedding to Zora Vukovic to which the Fantastic Four were invited, Doom ordered the decomission of any and all devices meant to destroy the team since he had promised them a clean slate as part of Latverian tradition.[1]
Destruction
The wedding went awry after Zora admitted at the altar to having slept with the Human Torch. Doom lashed out at the Fantastic Four and activated the Amragedron. He targeted the Human Torch, bombarding him with concentrated cosmic rays that overloaded his powers and prevented him from turning off his flame. When one of the weaponeers who had worked on it named Wilhelm rushed to the scene and warned about the Armagedron blowing up due to its instability, The Thing destroyed it. Its power core remained intact but started going critical. After the Black Panther's failed attempt to counter its expanding vibrations, Doom harnessed the core's power and then redirected it to the atmosphere, neutralizing the threat.[2]
Properties
The Armagedron can fire a beam of concentrated cosmic rays that can increase the power levels of cosmic ray mutates to the point they overload and become a hindrance. When used on the Human Torch, it prevented him from turning off his flame and caused him to constantly flare.[2]
