History
A native of Earth-105709, Arthur Parks was a scientist-turned-criminal known as the Living Laser. His life and criminal career were identical to those of his counterpart from Earth-616 until after their two timelines diverged when thirteen X-Men died along with Krakoa.[1]
Weeks after their realities diverged, the Earth-616 Living Laser arrived on Earth-105709 from several years in his world's future. He had traveled there by entering the interdimensional portal that his future world's Watcher had been using to observe the Earth-105709 X-Men's encounter with Count Nefaria.[2] The 616 Laser may have been the energy beam from out of the sky that struck the stolen Harrier jet in which Nefaria was trying to escape and caused it to explode.[1]
At some point, the native Living Laser was surprised to meet his 616 counterpart. Although no details about their encounter have been revealed, that meeting apparently made the 616 Living Laser decide that he wanted to return to his rightful reality where he was unique so he traveled to that Earth's Moon and went through the portal belonging to that Earth's Watcher. However, for some reason that has never been explained, passing through the portal again caused him to diverge in transit, splitting him into two identical counterparts, one of whom did return to Earth-616 while the other lost his way and went somewhere else in the multiverse. That lost counterpart's subsequent attempts to get home resulted in him diverging more and more counterparts with each attempt.[3]Notes
- The fact that the 616 Living Laser appeared on Earth-105709 only weeks after that timeline had diverged from Earth-616 means that he had traveled several years back in time while crossing between timelines. Given that the 616 Laser's first appearance as an energy being was published ten years after that divergence point, this strongly suggests that the 105709 Living Laser was still a flesh-and-blood human when he met his 616 counterpart.
- On the other hand, there are two ways in which the 105709 Laser could have been an energy being at the time of that meeting. The first option is if, for some reason, the 616 Laser didn't immediately seek out his counterpart and instead waited several years until the 105709 Living Laser had also become an energy being. The second option is that the events that transformed the 616 Parks into a sentient energy being somehow happened years earlier in this timeline than they had on Earth-616.
- In the absence of any additional data, it cannot be determined if this Arthur Parks was ever transformed into a sentient energy being or if he remained a human who used wrist-mounted laser guns and laser diode dermal implants.
